A Mother’s Hands

June 26, 2010

I took this picture of my mother and my hands together the other day. I love her hands. When I was a child, I would play with the veins on her hands during church services. These hands are the ones that gently guided me as she tried to teach me patience as I threaded a needle and these hands would tuck me into bed after a long day of playing.

These hands would sign every birthday card and hold my hand whenever I needed it. Her touch ever so gentle. How could hands work so hard and yet be so lady-like at the same time?

Funny how you just take things for granted…
