I Love Drop Cloths

July 1, 2010

If you have yet to discover drop cloths, now is the time. These beautiful drapes were made out of them. I would have probably sent them to the cleaners to have them ironed because I hate to iron large pieces of fabric, but they look great.

My one daughter re-upholstered a chair out of drop cloths once. The fabric is heavy so it held up great. It probably would have been better in hindsight to make a slip cover so she could wash it when it got dirty, but live and learn.

My daughter also used a drop cloth to make this wonderful floor mat for the entrance of her sister’s wedding reception. She first painted it all over with just a latex paint and then painted the monogram on it. She then put gromits in the corners so she would be able to tie it down so the wind wouldn’t blow it.

Have you ever use drop cloths for a project?

These are really neat. I would never have thought of using drop clothes in a project. I may have to consider this for curtains since I’m interested in getting heavier ones… great ideas!
