Boxing Day

I found this picture on http://theoldpaintedcottage.blogspot.com/ and loved it!

I too had taken a kitchen that my husband thought was fine, and decided to add more counter space. I did much the same thing when to try to visualize….minus the apples. When doing something that will cost a lot of money, it is best to use everything available to get the feel of what it will be like.

Many people will tell you to use tape on the floor. This works to a degree but it is sometimes hard to really imagine how the space is going to feel when you walk around. Make sure you have at least 2 and a half feet for low traffic areas and four feet for high traffic areas. Even if you don’t think your kitchen is a high traffic area because maybe you are the only one that does the cooking in your family, trust me anyone looking at your place to buy down the road will want it sent up for high traffic.

Hmmmm this brings a whole new meaning to “Boxing Day”.
