Good Advice

July 12, 2010

This is not something I ever planned on posting about and yet here I am. Why? Because as I become more and more involved in the world of blogging, I have been touched by the honesty people have about their problems and how much that honesty often helps another.

I have an estranged daughter. She is 23 years old and a year and a half ago she walked out of our lives. There was no warning that this would ever happen. We have always been an extremely close family. We are one of those Norman Rockwell families with all the extended family coming together all the time.

One day I went to wake her and she wasn’t there. We later found out that her and her boyfriend eloped…

As hard as that all was…the long silence has been even harder. What do you do? I had no idea and no one I knew had ever experienced anything like this.

Someone told me to just do the right thing

So that has been our motto. Birthday presents have been sent to the only place that we think she might get them. Yet we never hear if she reecived them. Mr Amazing sent out an email to all our children inviting them to a family weekend away. He included her and her husband even though we weren’t even sure she would get or read the email. Within moments an email came back saying she wasn’t sure if they would be able to come but she would let us know… our hearts leaped with joy…we reached out and this time she reached back.

Just do the right thing….good advice
